Located in the historic and scenic Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Chestnut Ridge Funny Farm began in 2016 with the purchase of a long-retired dairy farm on Chestnut Ridge Road, just outside Staunton. Since then, the farm has expanded to a total of 95 acres with an additional property only seven minutes away. Our cattle enjoy wide, rolling pastures and thoughtfully managed rotational grazing.
While we specialize in mini Highland cattle, we also raise a variety of other midsize, miniature and micro breeds to fit every preference. The farm is also home to a unique collection of exotics—including emus, yaks, water buffalo, and our beloved llapaca—making every visit truly one of a kind.

Sarah and Trevor were both raised in beautiful Rockbridge County, Virginia. Sarah graduated from the University of Virginia and pursued a career in elementary education. When she is not doing farm tasks, she is employed as a school principal. Trevor farmed throughout his teenage years and eventually became a law enforcement officer. After 15 years, he left that calling to manage the farm full-time. Sarah and Trevor have three amazing children: daughters Carrington, Clara and son Wells.
